Talho do Toninho
Stalls: 25-26
António Moreira, better known by his nickname Toninho, represents the 4th generation of his family working in Mercado do Bolhão.
Bolhão was still just an open-air market in a square, and Mr. Toninho's great-grandfather already sold vegetables there. Later on, the business was put in the hands of his grandmother and mother, who together sold legumes and fresh vegetables. The stories intersect when Mr. Toninho, who worked at a butcher stall in the market, gets to know who would become António Moreira's mother. Love united them in life, but the businesses continued to be independent: the mother kept selling vegetables and the father continued to work in the meat trade, helped by his son António.
In 2001, the father of Mr. Toninho passed the business on to his son.
Presently, Ricardo Moreira, the son of Mr. Toninho is the owner of the meat and poultry stall, but still has his father with him, who still sees the market as his second home.
